After a journey of almost ten hours from Doha, Qatar, I arrived on an island adorned with wonders. In the morning, ancient temples and lush rice fields greeted me with their allure, while the afternoon unfolded in a serene embrace of sun-kissed shores. As twilight descended, the island revealed its lively spirit, inviting me to partake in nocturnal revelries at vibrant bars. Yes, I was in Bali, where there was something for every kind of traveller. Here are the places I visited in Bali that ticked off my bucket list and reminded me of what makes this island so special.
Majestic waterfalls
I marvelled at majestic waterfalls within Bali’s enchanting realm. The ethereal Tibumana Waterfall, the hidden gem of Tukad Cepung, and the breathtaking Tegunungan Waterfall bestowed upon me awe-inspiring vistas and moments of serenity amidst nature’s symphony. Organised tours and convenient pick-up services made it easy to access these cascades.
Nusa Penida Island
I couldn’t resist exploring Nusa Penida Island, a hidden gem nestled away from Bali’s bustling touristy shores. This secluded haven allowed me to savour moments of tranquility and capture stunning insta-worthy photographs.
The allure of pristine white sandy beaches such as Kelingking Beach and Broken Beach was irresistible. I surrendered to the refreshing embrace of cerulean waters and was mesmerised by the awe-inspiring rock formations that graced the landscape.
The Tanah Lot Temple
No visit to Bali would be complete without immersing myself in the spiritual realm of its temples. Pura Tanah Lot, a revered pilgrimage temple perched atop a rocky formation embraced by the sea, offered an enchanting spectacle, especially during sunset.
Embark on a jungle safari
Embarking on a jungle safari was a thrilling experience. Riding a tram, I encountered a diverse array of magnificent wildlife and even had the opportunity to feed them. The captivating shows, including the Animal Educational Show and the Bali Agung Concert, added to the adventure. Dining at the Tsavo Lion Restaurant while observing the animals in their natural habitat was truly memorable.
Swing from the top
I couldn’t resist taking a seat on the swing at Desa Swing, immersing myself in the refreshing embrace of tropical air and enjoying the breathtaking panorama of rice fields and valleys.
The Blue Lagoon of Padang Bai
Snorkeling in the Blue Lagoon of Padang Bai was a dream come true. The stunning underwater paradise allowed me to explore its beauty at my own pace.
The Tegalalang rice terraces
The Tegalalang Rice Terraces left me awe-struck. As a UNESCO World Heritage site, these cascading landscapes with their intricate subak irrigation system offered panoramic vistas of lush greenery that extended beyond the horizon.
Start your day with dolphins
Starting my day with dolphins was pure magic. The pristine beaches of northern Bali attracted these amiable creatures during the early hours of sunrise. Opting for a guided tour led by a knowledgeable local guide ensured an unforgettable experience.
