The conclusion of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change’s (Ikbis 2024) Ramadan Beach Volleyball Championship’s second edition saw the participation of 14 teams divided into four groups.
Taking place on the sandy court at Aspire Park, the title of this edition was claimed by the information challenge team, who emerged victorious over the ministry’s team with a score of 2-1 in the final match.
Minister of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) HE Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie graced the closing day matches with his presence. The final match was intense and culminated in the crowning of the winning team.
The winners and coaches, along with Qatar’s captain Hassan Al Haydos, who retired from international football after securing the 2023 AFC Asian Cup Qatar title, were honoured by the organising committee.
Prizes
Financial rewards totalling QR100,000 were allocated to the first-place winners, with the champion receiving QR50,000, QR30,000 for the runner-up, and QR20,000 for the third-place winner.
Faisal Khalid Al Otaibi, chairman of the Championship Organising Committee, commended the outstanding success of the current edition, noting the significant turnout since the event’s inception and praising the high level of technical proficiency displayed.
He also highlighted the various events held alongside the tournament by the organising bodies, emphasising the MoECC dedication to supporting community sports activities and promoting the importance of sports participation.
