Nissan is accelerating its growth and electrification efforts across the AMIEO region (Africa, Middle East, India, Europe, Oceania) under its new global business strategy, The Arc. This plan builds on the FY20-23 Nissan NEXT transformation and aims towards the Ambition 2030 vision. It focuses on expanding product offerings, boosting electrification, adopting innovative manufacturing and engineering approaches, utilizing new technologies, and forming strategic partnerships to increase sales and profitability.

The AMIEO region’s strategy is designed to sync with Nissan’s global vision, promoting a swift shift to electric vehicles (EVs) backed by a mix of electrified and internal combustion engine (ICE) models, aiming for volume growth and financial prudence. Nissan plans to increase global sales by 1 million units annually, with the AMIEO region contributing about 300,000 units. This includes the launch of 16 new electrified and 14 ICE models worldwide, with five new EVs and six new ICE models rolling out in the AMIEO region, featuring popular models like the Nissan LEAF.

Guillaume Cartier, Chairperson, Nissan AMIEO said: “Through Nissan’s new business plan, The Arc, we have a clear roadmap to a promising future, focusing on growth, adaptability, and competitiveness. Our AMIEO region is fully aligned to this global plan, and we are shifting gears to enhance our product offering in the region, advance electrification and technology and leverage our strategic partnerships to drive us to a new era.

“Through this comprehensive plan, we are championing competitiveness and growth, and I am confident we will deliver, providing the foundations to bridge to Nissan’s Ambition 2030 vision.”

Nassim Mourani, General Manager of the Automotive Group at Saleh Al Hamad Al Mana Co., said:”We’re excited about Nissan’s comprehensive global business plan, especially as it gears up to introduce five new Nissan SUVs customized to cater to our diverse customer base. Moreover, Nissan’s focus on introducing electric vehicles to the Middle East perfectly aligns with Saleh Al Hamad Al Mana Company’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and innovative solutions. With Nissan’s strong brand recognition behind us, we’re well-positioned not just to enhance value but also to contribute to the realization of Qatar’s National Vision through these strategic initiatives.”

Nissan will enhance its competitiveness and product range through strategic partnerships. In Europe, its alliance with Renault/Ampere will introduce a new Compact EV, replacing the Nissan Micra, and launch two new LCVs. In Oceania, a partnership with Mitsubishi Motors will bring a new 1-tonne pickup. In India, Nissan will bolster its alliance with Renault to expand its manufacturing base, positioning India alongside the UK as a major export hub.

Electrification Progress

Nissan plans an extensive EV rollout across all AMIEO sub-regions, with Europe leading its global electrification efforts. By 2026, over 40% of Nissan’s European sales are expected to be fully electric, and 75% electrified. The company will also advance its EV36Zero vision at the UK’s Sunderland plant, launching new EV production as part of a £3bn investment with partners. This comprehensive plan for zero-emission manufacturing will include the commercialization of V2G technology, introducing AC bi-directional capabilities to Nissan EVs starting in Europe. This technology will enable the use of two-way home chargers that allow energy sharing between the vehicle’s battery and the electricity grid, creating new revenue streams for Nissan and benefits for customers and the environment.

The Arc: Sub-region highlights

India

During The Arc, Nissan India will introduce three new models, aiming to triple sales to 95,000 units by 2026. The Chennai Alliance plant will debut two Nissan SUVs and two for Renault, making India, alongside the UK, a key export hub with around 100,000 units by 2026. A new electric vehicle will also be developed for local production.

Africa

Nissan aims to double sales in Africa to 110,000 units during The Arc. The region will see the launch of two new Indian-made SUVs and the introduction of a fully electric vehicle by the end of the plan. This expansion and new offerings are expected to increase market share amid rising vehicle demand.

Middle East

The Middle East will see five new Nissan SUVs, including two from India. The Arc includes strategies to introduce electric vehicles, leveraging Nissan’s strong brand presence to fuel growth.

Europe

Europe will welcome five new EVs, including updated models of the LEAF and Micra. In partnership with Ampere, Nissan will launch an electric LCV and a new FlexEVan model. The region aims for a 40% sales increase by 2026, driven by the third-generation e-POWER technology and full EVs.

Oceania

Nissan Oceania will launch four models, including a 1-tonne pickup in collaboration with Mitsubishi. The region will also see new EV introductions as Nissan accelerates its electrification strategy.

Cartier continued: “With 140 markets and a population of almost 3.8bn, the AMIEO region is vast, and the opportunities are immense. With this new business plan, we will deliver our most exciting and innovate products and technologies to date, ensuring we are ready for the competition. In line with the global strategy outlined in The Arc, we are also transforming our business from the inside out, turning challenges into new opportunities, while creating additional revenue streams and enhancing our value proposition for customers.”

The Arc ensures growth and transformation in the AMIEO region, laying the groundwork for Nissan’s Ambition 2030 vision, the company’s long-term vision to become a truly sustainable company, driving towards a cleaner, safer, and more inclusive world.
