Olympics, Paris 2024

In the 33rd Summer Olympics, Paris 2024, an international multi-sport event organised by the International Olympic Committee in partnership with the Paris 2024 organising committee, Qatar was represented by 14 athletes competing in five sports: athletics, swimming, weightlifting, shooting, and beach volleyball.

As a seasoned Olympian, Barshim boasts an impressive record with Olympic gold and two silver medals from 2016 and 2012, along with numerous international accolades.
Track and field athletes Abderrahman Samba, Abubaker Haydar, Bassem Humeida, Ismail Dawood, and Ammar Ismail joined Barshim and Mohamed in representing Qatar.
Saif Mohammed and Shahad Mohammed also qualified, while Saeed Abu Sharab and Rashid Saleh Al Adhuba competed in the shooting events. Qatar’s weightlifter Fares Ibrahim returns to the Olympics after competing in the 2016 and 2020 Games.

In 2016, he placed eighth in the men’s 85 kg, later updated to seventh after the original bronze medalist failed a drug test. In 2020, Ibrahim made history by winning Qatar’s first Olympic gold medal in weightlifting, setting an Olympic record in the clean and jerk with 225kg.
Qatar’s beach volleyball stars Sherif Younis and Ahmed Tejan made their third consecutive Olympic appearance this summer. Ranked 15th in the FIVB classification for the Paris Olympics, they aim to add another medal to their bronze from Tokyo.
Abdulaziz Al Obaidly represented Qatar in swimming. This Olympics, 10,500 athletes from over 200 national committees and a refugee team competed in 329 events across 35 venues. The event featured 32 sports, with 20,000 media representatives, 45,000 volunteers, and 754 events covered in 350,000 hours of television broadcast.
Team Qatar’s Bassem Hamida finished his 400m hurdles run at Paris 2024, achieving his season’s best of 49.64 seconds despite not qualifying for the final, and remains optimistic for future competitions after overcoming injury challenges.

P.S: At the time of filing the report, some event finals had not taken place.
