Stopover Tourism LLC, in partnership with Qatar Rail, has introduced three new sustainable city tours, utilizing the eco-friendly metro system as a key mode of transportation. This initiative supports Qatar’s National Vision 2030, which focuses on sustainability and responsible development in tourism. The launch event, held at the Park Hyatt Doha in Msheireb Downtown, was organized to celebrate World Tourism Day and Qatar Sustainability Week.
Three New Sustainable Tours:
Discover the City of Doha by Metro
This tour includes must-see spots like West Bay, Katara Cultural Village, the National Museum of Qatar, Msheireb Downtown, and Souq Waqif, providing a mix of historic and modern attractions while using sustainable transport.
Sports City: Doha’s Athletic Landmarks by Metro
Starting from Souq Waqif, this tour takes visitors to major sports venues, including Khalifa International Stadium, Aspire Dome, Aspire Park, and Villagio Mall, highlighting Qatar’s commitment to sustainability in its sports infrastructure.
Education City and Mall of Qatar by Metro
This tour begins at Souq Waqif and covers the Qatar National Library, Education City Mosque, and the Botanical Gardens in Education City, before ending at the Mall of Qatar. It blends education, culture, and leisure, emphasizing sustainable travel at every stop.
These tours were carefully curated by award-winning guide Pia Sundstedt, known for her deep knowledge and expertise in creating engaging, culturally rich experiences. Pia expressed her enthusiasm for the new tours, stating, “Creating these tours was an opportunity to showcase Qatar’s vibrant mix of modernity and tradition while ensuring we prioritize sustainable travel. Stopover Tourism is one of the first DMCs in Qatar to introduce the Whisper System, a discreet earpiece technology that enhances communication between guides and tourists. This system:
