QH: What inspired Guerlain’s latest fragrance?
Hakeem: Since 1828, Guerlain has drawn inspiration from nature, women, and love stories. The latest creation, L’Heure Dorée (Golden Hour), is inspired by art and culture. As part of the Rendezvous Collection, this fragrance is a limited-edition masterpiece, making its presence in the Middle East even more special.
In 2025, Guerlain continues its Exceptional Rendezvous tradition, dedicated to the First Eid—a moment where tradition meets modernity. This year’s Millésime Jasmin edition is a blend of fine craftsmanship and delicate fragrance, encased in a luxurious purple velvet bottle. L’Heure Dorée, an amber and woody Eau de Parfum, is available exclusively on Guerlain.com and in Guerlain boutiques.
QH: What makes Guerlain perfumes unique?
Hakeem: The magic of Guerlain lies in its natural ingredients, heritage, and signature olfactory DNA–what we call Guerlinade. This unique blend features Guerlain’s favourite ingredients: Rose, Iris, Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Bergamot, and Jasmine.
Guerlain made history by creating the world’s first Oriental fragrance, Shalimar, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. This legendary scent embodies the essence of Guerlinade and continues to inspire new creations, ensuring every Guerlain perfume carries an unmistakable signature.
QH: Any tips on wearing and layering perfumes?
Hakeem: There’s no strict rule, but here’s a trick: before wearing your clothes, spray fragrance on the back of your jacket—this leaves a lasting trail as you move. For layering, instead of mixing scents directly on top of each other, apply them side by side to let each note shine. A simple trick? Tuck a scented cotton pad into your pocket for a subtle, long-lasting aura.
QH: What’s your favourite Guerlain scent and why?
Hakeem: This is always the toughest question! After 14 years with Guerlain, I’ve cherished every launch and every moment. Choosing a favourite is like picking a favourite child—it’s impossible! My scent choice depends on the moment, the mood, and even the time of day. Today, I find myself drawn to a fragrance from the Absolus Allegoria collection—it perfectly matches my quiet, reflective mood.
QH: One fragrance tip everyone should know?
Hakeem: Never let trends dictate your choice—follow your emotions. A fragrance should spark joy, evoke memories, and feel like an extension of you. Don’t wear a perfume just because it’s popular or because someone says it suits you. If a scent makes your eyes sparkle, that’s the one for you.
