Waldorf Astoria Doha announced the opening of YUN, an authentic Cantonese and Taishanese dining journey like never before. The opening took place on June 10, 2024, amidst the clouds and perched on the 44th floor of the property, offering breathtaking views of the city skyline.
The event was a spectacular celebration, attracting ambassadors, top-tier VIPs, and media representatives. Guests savoured an evening of Chinese delicacies with a contemporary twist, meticulously prepared by YUN executive chef Victor Zhong. The festivities included a Qanoon performer, DJ set, and a traditional fan dance performance, symbolising beauty, grace, and delicacy – evoking the glamorous soul of the 1930s.
“We are immensely proud to introduce YUN to the market. The elegant decor and the vibrant ambience made the opening night a truly memorable event. YUN promises a beautiful blend of heritage and Taishanese cuisine exclusively to the plates of Waldorf Astoria Doha,” said general manager, Andreas Jersabeck.
Attendees were treated to a curated tasting menu featuring some of YUN’s favourites such as Wagyu beef consommé truffle dumplings at the Dim Sum Live Station, followed by Peking Duck, and a variety of gastronomic pass-arounds; steamed red bean bao, deep-fried shrimp with golden mango dressing and many more – all crafted with the freshest ingredients and traditional techniques.
YUN is a culinary gem that echoes the elegance of the original social dynasties which features a tea house and luxury dining room reimagined for the modern day.
It is now open to the public, offering a unique concept that combines the authenticity of oriental flavours with the sophisticated charm of the rooftop location; from Tuesdays to Saturdays from 12pm to 12am.
