Nestled within the St. Regis Doha, Opa captures the essence of Greece with its harmonious blend of traditional and modern Greek cuisine. Led by Azqa Haroon, let’s explore the diverse flavours and vibrant ambience that make Opa a unique culinary destination.

Having experienced the vibrant gastronomic scene of Doha over a period, I was intrigued to venture into Opa, the latest addition to the St. Regis Doha. With a blend of traditional and modernised Greek cuisine, the restaurant promises a friendly ambience and charming interiors inspired by the Greek islands.

Brunch extravaganza

The Opa brunch, a vibrant celebration of Greece’s essence expressed through food, dance, and music, truly stood out during my visit. Every alternate Friday, from 12 noon to 4 pm, the venue bursts to life with a set menu featuring diverse packages. Starting at QR345, you can enjoy a set menu with soft drinks, or elevate your experience to QR450 for house beverages, or indulge in the extravagant QR550 package, including bubblies. The experience heightens with dancing shows, plate smashing, and a live DJ performing Greek, Arabic, and international music.

Epicurean delights unveiled

Embarking on a savoury exploration at Opa, I began with the delightful combination of bread and dips, where the hummus stood out for its exquisite flavour. Transitioning to the starters, the green salad and homemade pie proved to be truly mouthwatering.

Authentic Greek zing

The main course offerings showcased a symphony of Greek punch. The grilled baby chicken, featuring marinated chicken, tzatziki, green olive powder, and natural jus, provided a delectable combination of textures and tastes. Another highlight was the kleftiko, presenting a perfect blend of braised lamb shoulder, feta mash, olive jus, grilled courgette, and mint salad. The pastitsio, featuring wagyu beef and tomato sauce, added a rich and savoury touch to the dining experience. Papoutsakia, with its roasted aubergine, caramelised onions, roasted pine nuts, and yogurt, offered a unique and satisfying combination. All main courses were complemented by delightful accompaniments of feta fries and grilled vegetables.

The sweet tooth

The dessert selection proved to be a sweet crescendo. The sokolatopita, a hot chocolate fondant paired with tahini ice cream and sesame tuile, was a decadent treat for chocolate lovers. The milopita, featuring pink lady apples, caramel sauce, candied almonds, and vanilla ice cream, showcased a perfect balance of sweetness and texture. The sorbet collection, available in mandarin or raspberry, provided a refreshing and palate-cleansing conclusion to this Greek gastronomic experience.

The end note

Opa Doha proved to be a haven for those seeking an authentic Greek experience in the heart of Doha. From the lively milieu of the brunch to the exquisite offerings, the restaurant successfully transported me to the vibrant streets of Greece. This gastronomic journey at was a true celebration of Hellenic culture, leaving an indelible mark on my ingestible adventures in Doha.
