PERFECT METROPOLITAN GETAWAY

AZQA HAROON CHECKS IN FOR THE WEEKEND TO GIVE YOU THE LOWDOWN ON THIS PERFECT METROPOLITAN GETAWAY

If you want to take a break from months of hefty routine in the lead up to — and now after — the FIFA World Cup Qatar2022 for a quick weekend getaway, there’s a prime spot right here in the centre of Doha where you can get that much needed rest and holiday vibe.
Emerging proudly as an iconic Doha building, the Radisson Blu Doha is well-known for its hospitality, great restaurants, deluxe rooms and vibrant nightlife.
Don’t we all love traveling, visiting new places and meeting new people? But if your pockets do not allow after a busy football season to hop on to the plane, I would personally recommend a weekend stay in one of the most longstanding hotels in the capital.
Radisson Blu is a go-to option as the hotel is an amazing property with ultra-modern rooms and top-notch facilities, including an invigorating fitness club, swimming pool with a garden view, a lounge to party the night away and numerous international restaurants. A staycation can be very gratifying, so why not embark on a local holiday experience?

The suite
Being a big fan of hotel’s restaurants and lounges I’m pumped to stay for the weekend. After checking into the hotel (which, by the way, is surprisingly fast and easy process), I’m excited to check out my suite. Upon entering the floor, where the suit is nestled, I can’t help but be impressed by the clean, scented corridors. I’m on the 10th floor and cupcakes, nuts, macrons, chocolates await to welcome me. After aweing the heartfelt goodies, I start checking out the space and getting settled.
The modern wood-inspired décor is evident from the furniture to the TV and overall ambiance. The suit is tastefully decorated and generously sized. The bed is massive, making it irresistible for me to jump on, and the texture of the pillow and duvet is soft and comfy. There’s a TV set across the room and small wooden desk by the window in case you need to do some work. The spacious bathroom is ornate with a grey glass door, a tub, and a stand-alone shower. The overall space is well distributed, making it the perfect suite.

20 reasons why
After unpacking, I went down to explore the area followed by dinner. I start my evening taking a tour of 20 F&B outlets at this property — yes, you heard it right 20 and they all have something unique to offer. Let’s share a quick roundup of these around the globe outlets:

Bombay Balti (Indian, Curry House) offers unique Indian style cuisine originating from Birmingham!

Chingari (Indian, Tandoori restaurant) brings genuine Tandoor cuisine to Doha. Dine here in the splendor of the Maharaja whilst musicians sing sweet ghazals.

The Italian Job (Italian restaurant) be entertained by their talented singing servers whilst indulging in traditional Italian cuisine.

Ruby Wu’s (Chinese restaurant) brings you the culinary delights of China.

Sakura Teppanyaki & Sushi Bar (Japanese restaurant) Enjoy the theatre of their chefs as they put on a show, cooking unforgettable delights.
And the list goes on with Ingenuity, Pool Bar, Hyde Park Coffee Shop, Manhattan, Orion, Palm Garden and Shehrazad Lounge Bar & Terrace.

After the amazing tour I head to the Qube on the ground floor. The Qube has a very distinctive vibe and offers live bands, talented DJ’s. Around 8pm mixed crowd of young people warming-up for a Thursday night out takes over.
After some appetisers and drinks at the Qube, it’s time for a romantic dinner at the Bentley’s Grill, the hotel’s classic steak house. I’ve been saving my appetite the entire day just for this dinner – so I have big expectations to match.
Bentley’s Grill is located on the east wing and has a formal setting, offering the finest Wagyu Beef and mouthwatering delights. The restaurant is thoughtfully decorated with brown interiors and beautiful chandeliers. We tried their lobster cocktail and crab cakes as starters and believe me our taste buds were blown away with the enchanting taste. There’s no doubt their Wagyu Beef can be an instant hit among diners in Doha. After such a filling meal, I’m ready to call it a day and go back to my luxurious suite to properly enjoy it and flick through the many TV channels.
After a restful night’s sleep, breakfast was something I was looking forward to. On offer was in-room breakfast, and the server swayed in with a trolley offering a huge selection of breakfast dishes including different pastries, omelet of choice, fruits, waffles, and juices, among many other delicious treats. As expected, it didn’t disappoint at all!
After a great weekend getaway, I’m sure I will definitely keep coming back here for more.
